MOLDABLE VEHICLE ARMOR PANELS
UST has developed a patent-pending
lightweight moldable armor that has been tested internally and
independently at various labs. UST’s focus has been on a
composite prepreg, aramid, and optional ceramic molded
solution.
UST has addressed the five essentials for any military armor
program within their moldable armor manufacturing process.
Cost Effective
UST uses lower cost, readily available, commercial-off-the-shelf
materials along with its own proprietary (patent-pending) fiber
and panel processing designs. No exotic, sensitive processing
materials or processes are used. UST utilizes six sigma
and lean manufacturing techniques.
Lightweight
Optimized panel data allows for scaling for the threat.
No excess material is used, reducing weight and cost.
Meets Specifications
UST has demonstrated ability to defeat NIJ Level III and IV
threats, and Mil-Std-2105B FSP (6000 fps).
Works with Other Systems
Moldable panels are thin; can be customized for size,
weight, and installation. Waterproof. Fireproof. UV resistant.
Temperature invariant. Moldable to the surface needing armor.
Mass-Producible
Present UST fiber processing capacity exceeds 40 tons
per month; this can be doubled overnight and can be quadrupled
in eight weeks. Panel processing is with global composite
processing facility.
